Platypus Swimming Club were very pleased to host an Inter-Club Gala on 23rd March 2025. The Club welcomed two opponents – Ruislip Turtles and Stevenage Dolphins. The Club ran two teams, Platypus A and Platypus B. Only Platypus A had a female diver, Elsie-beau Kiely, who won the event, giving them an immediate advantage over our “B” team! They cashed in on this by winning the overall event by two points from Platypus B with Turtles third and Dolphins, with an incomplete team, fourth.
Winners for the “A” team were Paul Hastings (junior 3 lengths), Barbara Barton (ladies’ 1 length), Lucy Harwood (junior 2 lengths), Chris Veasey (gentlemen 2 lengths) and the ladies’ relay team of Barbara and Emma Donovan. Gold medals were awarded to the following from Platypus B: Cheryl Hastings (ladies 3 lengths), Joe Jones (junior 1 length), David Monk (gentlemen 1 length), James Harwood (gentlemen diving) and the junior (Amy Robinson, James Harwood, Joe Jones) and gentlemen’s (David Monk, James Barton, Chris Williamson) relay teams.
We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Hatfield, Councillor Shirley Asare and Very Worshipful Brother James Young of Halsey Lodge, to present the prizes. Halsey Lodge sponsored the gala so a special thank you goes to them.
