Platypus Swimming Club

On Sunday 15th September, Platypus took part in a NASCH regional gala which included clubs from Essex, Hertfordshire and southern Suffolk.  The winners of each race were to take part in the national finals, held each year at Leamington Spa.

As we were the only team to have junior swimmers (Elsie-beau Kiely, Lucy and James Harwood), they automatically won their races and qualified for the finals.  However, they needed some competition and so we raced against their corresponding adults.

The senior team (26 points) defeated those from Stevenage Dolphins and Sudbury Avocats (both 21 points), with gold medals awarded to Amy Robinson (1 length), Emma Donovan and Paul Hastings (both 4 lengths) and the ladies’ relay team of Barbara Barton, Amy Robinson and Cheryl Hastings.  Eight swimmers, therefore, qualified for the finals.  Congratulations to you all!
